Ready, set, go! The Hot Wheels Legends Tour began its epic search for a legendary car at the Hot Wheels Design Center in El Segundo. The stop’s winner—and first finalist to compete at SEMA in Las Vegas—was Mitch Allread, the owner of a 1949 Ford F-5 Truck Dually Rat Rod. Imagination and unique details pushed Allread’s vehicle past the others, including a re-configuration of the original Ford F-5 body and an “oil paver” theme. Jay Leno was a special guest, along with renowned die-cast designer Larry Wood, aka “Mr. Hot Wheels,” and 25 other alumni designers.
One finalist from each of the 15 cities will join Hot Wheels at SEMA 2018 in Las Vegas, where one lucky winner’s car will be immortalized as a Hot Wheels Legend and turned into a die-cast car that will be sold around the world. For more information, visit hotwheels.com/legendstour and follow the tour on the Hot Wheels Facebook and Instagram accounts, as well as with #HotWheelsLegends.
Jay Leno helped kick off the tour at the Hot Wheels headquarters with Hot Wheels SVP and General Manager Chris Down.
